Setup
Fine sand or smooth gravel
Plenty of large caves and sturdy rockwork.
Strong filtration and good water movement with high oxygen.
Dim lighting is preferred.
Diet
Primarily meaty foods:
High-quality carnivore sinking pellets
Shrimp, mussels, earthworms, bloodworms (occasionally)
Offer some algae wafers or blanched vegetables occasionally for variety, but protein should make up most of the diet.
Temperament
Peaceful with midwater fish but territorial with other plecos, especially as they mature.
Best with plenty of hiding places if keeping more than one.
